Overordnede kursusmål
In this course general introduction about wind turbine technology will be taught. The contents of the course are
- General introduction to wind turbine system
- Aerodynamics
- Structural design
- Structural dynamics
- Electrical systems
- Wind turbine control
- Wind turbine loads

After the course, you will be able to describe a wind turbine system, its components and how it works.
Læringsmål
En studerende, der fuldt ud har opfyldt kursets mål, vil kunne:
  • Describe the basic components of a wind turbine
  • Describe a steady Blade Element Momentum (BEM) method to model the aerodynamic forces on a rotor
  • Apply a steady BEM
  • Describe a typical blade structure
  • Explain main load cases and criteria for structural design of blades
  • Distinguish between various types of wind turbines
  • Explain the electrical design and control of the basic wind turbine types
  • Design a maximum power point tracking controller for a wind turbine
Kursusindhold
You will learn general wind turbine technology covering general introduction of wind turbine, aerodynamics, Loads, composite structure, structural dynamics, electrical systems, control. A quiz session with module multiple choices will be given after each lecture. After the course you will be able to explain a wind turbine system
