principper og metoder til vurdering af kemisk stoffers skæbne og
effekt i miljøet herunder miljørisikovurdering af kemiske stoffer.
Redskaber til bedømmelse af skæbne og effekter af kemikalier i
miljøet udgør en central del af kurset.

Definere og beskrive basale begreber og termer i
miljørisikovurderingen
Fortolke fysisk-kemiske og økotoksikologiske data for
kemikalier i relation til henholdsvis miljømæssig skæbne og
miljøfare
Foretage enkle kvantitative beregninger af stoffers skæbne i
miljøet
Indsamle relevante data vedr. kemikaliers miljømæssige skæbne
og effekter fra bl.a. internet og databaser
Klassificere kemikalier i overensstemmelse med regulatoriske
retningslinier for risikovurdering
Summere og evaluere litteraturdata i miljøprofiler af organiske
kemikalier
Planlægge og gennemføre et projekt herunder formulere
hypoteser
Skrive en teknisk rapport, hvor teorien anvendes på et
realistisk miljøproblem med kemikalier, inklusive at trække
konklusioner og foretage kildehenvisninger og citationer

Kursusindhold:
Environmental chemistry is characterized as the teaching of
chemical substances’ release, transport, distribution and
decomposition in the environment. The course treats release of
substances relevant to emergencies and their fate in the
environment, i.a. their fate, effects and impacts on water, soil
and air. The processes hereunder e.g. biodegradation, hydrolysis,
photolysis, evaporation relate to the physical-chemical properties
and structure of the substances and also to the characteristics of
the observed scenario and media. Additionally the environmental
effects and impacts of the substances will be reviewed, as well as
the basis for provisioning data and data assessment is examined.
Fate and effects of chemical substances is reviewed, and their
application as danger and risk assessments is a central topic in
the teaching.
Data search is likewise an important part of the course, because it
is considered important to be capable of quickly finding relevant
information on chemical substances and subsequently use the gained
knowledge from the course in a critical situation in order to
evaluate how dangerous the concerned substance is, both for nature
and organisms.
The course closes with a written report, based on a realistic
situation.
