Understand the configuration and control of CNC machine
tools.
Compile and execute standard CNC programmes for multi-axis
machine tools in both high level language and code format,
including canned cycles and subroutines.
Apply parametric programming techniques to standard and
specialized CNC machine tools such as laser welding machines.
Understand the applications and limitations of programmable
logic controllers.
Understand the application and limitations of Computer
Integrated Manufacturing (CIM).
Evaluate materials handling systems.
Understand tooling systems, preset tooling and tool
maintenance.
Understand the concepts of MRP, CAPP and GT.
Kursusindhold:
Introduction to CIM. Fundamentals of NC programming; cutter
compensation and constant surface speed; canned cycles and
subroutines. High level programming – Automatically Programmed
Tools (APT). Parametric programming and macros. Direct and
Distributed Numerical Control (DNC). Materials handling systems -
workpiece location and fixturing, pallet changing systems; tooling
systems and automatic tool changing. Programmable Logic Controllers
(PLC)s. Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM). Materials
Requirement Planning (MRP), Computer Aided Process Planning (CAPP),
Group Technology (GT). Overview of non-standard CNC machine tools
and their configurations and modes of operation.
