The course objective is to let students work with a current and
important water and health related problem present at the Roskilde
Festival. It is the aim that students learn to identify, describe
and solve a problem based on their background in environmental
engineering. Furthermore they should learn to disseminate the
results and provide concrete advice to a real client/customer (the
festival organizers).
Læringsmål:
En studerende, der fuldt ud har opfyldt kursets mål, vil kunne:
Identify a real world environmental engineering challenge and
describe it to a degree that engineers can pose solutions to the
problem
Plan field investigation or computer modelling to increase the
understanding of the challenge
Execute field work or computer modelling to evaluate solutions
to the challenge
Generate realistic solutions and describe their pros and
cons
Provide concrete advice for the client through precise
communication that is backed by sound documentation and
arguments

Kursusindhold:
The course is in the form of a project. In collaboration with the
festival organizers, the students are supposed to identify water
related engineering challenges and come up with well-argued
suggestions for solutions. The project should typically contain a
theoretical part, field work and eventual computer modelling.
During the annual Roskilde Festival, more than 100.000 persons need
enough good and clean water for drinking, sanitation and swimming.
In the past, there have been problems with keeping enough pressure
and thereby delivering enough drinking water. Furthermore it is a
challenge to maintain a good microbial drinking water quality.
Roskilde Festival needs good solutions to these challenges to
pursue their commitment to be a safe festival. Course participants
have collected data from the festival 2010, 2011 and 2012 and this
year’s course will build on that knowledge.
Bemærkninger:
The course workload is 3 weeks fulltime. The participants are
expected to spend 1-2 days in May preparing for the course and the
remaining time in June and July to perform the project and finalise
the report. See also

course is a Roskilde Festival course. Roskilde Festival
acknowledges the work by giving the course participants free access
to the festival (medarbejderarmbånd).
