Overordnede kursusmål
The aim of this module is to provide the participants with action-learning based knowledge about relevant topics within Operations and Supply Chain Management that can be applied in the participants’ companies
Læringsmål
En studerende, der fuldt ud har opfyldt kursets mål, vil kunne:
  • direct an operation by articulating and following an operations strategy. An operations strategy helps to ensure resources and processes are aligned with external-market and internal-functional stakeholders.
  • design the end-to-end processes that underpin effective delivery systems- avoiding Islands of process excellence – an efficient service centre, a highly automated production cell, an innovative 1st tier supplier, etc. – can help but it is systemic performance that matters.
  • deliver on organisational promises by planning and controlling resources and processes. For example, for many organisations, the active management of capacity AND demand remains relatively under-developed. It is important to consider both sides of this control ‘equation’ if an operation is to deliver its promises.
  • develop performance continuously by analysing and improving all processes. No process is perfect! Organisations and their supply networks face ever-changing circumstances. Hence, there is a constant pressure for continuously improved processes.
  • Understand the role of (digital) technologies and use of these tools for successful operations management
  • Manage operations in their broader societal context, including dealing with public policy, globalisation pressures, ethical and cultural challenges.
  • Apply simple systems thinking and analysis concepts to operating problems.
  • Understand the impact of context conditions (e.g. PESTLE: political, economic, sociological, technological, legal, and environmental) on operations management.
Kursusindhold
The overall logic of the course is that effective operations management is a pre-requisite for all organisations – private or public, manufacturing or service - that seek to create sustainable value. Those organisations that are widely admired all have built their success on exceptional operations capabilities. The course will explore these paragons of operating virtue but also discuss the operational challenges faced by all organizations and introduce a toolbox for participants to make sense of and impact those they face.
