The course takes place in the spring semester each year.

The program is based on action learning where theories, methods, concepts and tools are employed on real business challenges and issues from the participants companies. Lectures are paralleled by casework, group work and assignments.

You will work on the Consultancy Project in teams of 3 – 5 persons. A total of 150 hours is expected per person for the assignment. Weighting of grade: • Content: 50% • Written report: 25% • Presentation and discussion: 25%. All members of the team will be evaluated individually.

Overordnede kursusmål
The aim of the module is to provide the participants with action-learning based knowledge about relevant topics within strategic problem solving. The goal with the consultancy project is to make the participant familiar with the role as a consultant and execute a comprehensive business analysis.
Læringsmål
En studerende, der fuldt ud har opfyldt kursets mål, vil kunne:
  • address a strategic problem situation within the innovation and business development field that requires a breath of view as well as the ability to integrate various disciplines, methods and tools so as to arrive at a coherent solution proposal
  • to understand your role as a consultant, and further, to practice this role skillfully
  • learn to execute a large, comprehensive, cross-disciplinary project with a value in itself and in addition, as a preparation for the Global Consultancy Project in Semester 3 and Master Project in Semester 4
  • to solve a real business challenge by applying all relevant theories, concepts and methods in the consultancy project.
  • learn skills to operate in a global business environment analyzing an industry that may be unfamiliar
  • apply tools and frameworks that support the solution proposal across disciplinary boundaries
  • learn to present the solution proposal to operational management of a company in question
  • benefit from feedback received from the solution proposal and its presentation
Kursusindhold
In addition to executing consultancy project, participants are given lectures in strategic problem solving. The course is based on the frameworks and tools that are employed in most strategy and management consulting companies. These include:
• issue driven problem structuring and hypothesis led problem solving
• the ‘pyramid principle’ for structuring communication.
