Campus Lyngby
The program is based on action learning where theories, methods, concepts and tools are employed on real business challenges and issues from the participants companies. Lectures are paralleled by casework, group work and assignments.

Overordnede kursusmål
This course focuses on developing the essential skills and tools needed to design and lead effective organisations. By combining Organisational Design and Change Leadership, it equips participants with the knowledge to analyse, design, and implement changes that enhance organisational performance and achieve strategic goals.
Læringsmål
En studerende, der fuldt ud har opfyldt kursets mål, vil kunne:
  • understand the tools of organisation diagnosis and how to use them
  • understand the tools of organisation design and how to use them
  • assess the alignment between the organizational design and the strategy of the organisation
  • diagnose why the organisation is underperforming for one or more of its stakeholders
  • develop options for improving the design of the organisation including structure, processes, decision rights, people models and governance
  • understand the main theoretical foundations, concepts and the success factors of change management
  • critically examine the value and limitations of the various approaches to change
  • assess the different ways to initiate, implement and sustain organizational change
Kursusindhold
Change Leadership

This section focuses on the leadership required to navigate and implement strategic change. It goes beyond linear models to address the non-linear and complex realities of organisational change. Key areas of focus include:

• Strategic change theories integrated with real-world examples.
• Recognising the role of contextual factors in shaping the process.
• Internal change factors: Power dynamics, culture, interests, and communication.
• External change factors: Political, economic, and social influences.

Participants will develop practical insights to:

• Design and position effective change interventions.
• Work collaboratively in groups to refine strategies.
• Present proposals and receive feedback to enhance their approaches.


Organisational Design

This section introduces practical tools and frameworks to:

• Diagnose organisational challenges and identify areas for improvement.
• Lead organisational design projects, from understanding problems to developing solutions.
• Refine design solutions to align with strategic objectives and improve performance.

The organisational design process is structured around the following steps:

1. Strategy: Define what the organisation aims to achieve.
2. Performance Assessment: Evaluate whether strategic goals are being met.
3. Diagnosis: Identify what is working and what needs improvement.
4. Design: Develop solutions to address identified issues.
5. Change Plan: Formulate a plan to implement the solutions.
6. Execution: Carry out the changes effectively.
7. Success: Achieve the desired outcomes.
