Kursusindhold
Today’s business leaders are expected to have an informed, current, and strategic perspective on the economic performance of a wide range of countries. And they are expected to read the forces at play fast, even as economists themselves are not in agreement on the direction of the economy or the decisions that monetary authorities and governments should make.
On an industry level, competition takes different shapes and can constraint the strategic options of companies. Executives need a grasp of archetypal industry dynamics, economic methods for optimizing production, costs, pricing to customers as well as transfer pricing to inform their strategic and operational decisions.
This course will deepen your understanding of the interplay between international economic developments, financial markets and business risks, and survey various industry dynamics as well as profit optimization principles. It will cover the main issues addressed by economists and the models they use to think them through, giving you a mechanistic understanding rather than a predictive, quantitative set of equations directly applicable to any situation. We will also discuss the impact of AI.
Finally, economics as a discipline comes with limitations that should be acknowledged. Some provoking, sometimes controversial ideas proposed as beach heads to renew and expand our economic thinking will be discussed.
